Women, Wealth & Power: My Experience at the 2026 Women in Power Spaces Convening

There are some rooms you walk into and immediately understand why you're there.

The 2026 Women in Power Spaces Convening was one of those rooms for me.

On September 17, I had the privilege of participating in the Women & Wealth panel at the Fullerton Community Center, joining other accomplished women in business and finance for a conversation about something I believe we need to discuss much more openly: how women build, protect and grow wealth.

The Women in Power Spaces initiative is part of the North Orange County Community College District, with a mission centered on advancing gender equity and addressing systemic barriers women encounter. This year's convening focused on gaps in areas including wealth, representation, empowerment and creative expression. 

Our Women & Wealth conversation was moderated by Dr. Yasmin Davidds, an organizational psychologist and CEO whose work has focused extensively on women's leadership and negotiation. The official program centered our discussion around financial literacy, retirement, investing, negotiation, career advancement, unpaid labor and women's ability to make informed decisions that support long-term financial independence. 

Those aren't abstract subjects for me.

I've built businesses. I've experienced successes and setbacks. I've learned what happens when the numbers work—and what happens when they don't. I've had to make difficult financial decisions, reinvent myself, develop multiple streams of income and continue moving forward.

So when I talk about entrepreneurship and wealth, I'm not speaking from a textbook. I'm speaking from experience.

And apparently, that resonated.

After our panel, women approached me with questions, stories and ideas of their own. Several told me how much they appreciated the perspective I brought to the conversation. There was genuine excitement around continuing those conversations beyond the event and learning more about working with me through my consulting practice at Tahera.co.

I jokingly walked away feeling like a fan favorite, but what meant much more to me was realizing that people weren't simply entertained—they had learned something they could use.

That's the kind of speaking I want to do.

The convening brought together an impressive collection of women and leaders. Award-winning journalist and New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Traister, author of Good and Mad and All the Single Ladies, delivered the keynote. The program also included experts and leaders working across business, law, education, advocacy and the arts. 

And I wasn't there only as Tahera the speaker.

I was also there representing Amour Propre®.

Amour Propre proudly served as a sponsor of the 2026 convening, and seeing the company I founded represented throughout the event—from the program to the sponsor displays—was a meaningful full-circle moment for me.

Entrepreneurship can become so consumed with the next sale, the next product, the next client and the next problem that needs solving that we sometimes forget to acknowledge the evidence of how far we've come.

I took a moment to acknowledge it.

My company was in the room.

My name was in the program.

My experience had earned me a seat on the stage.

And women were waiting afterward because they wanted to hear more.

That matters.

This experience also reinforced where I'm headed with Tahera Consultancy. I've spent years developing products, building brands, selling, marketing, navigating entrepreneurship and turning ideas into actual businesses. I'm increasingly focused on helping other entrepreneurs shorten that learning curve.
